Meet the team… Hayley

A space is only as special as the people who care for it.

Behind every float, every warm welcome and every carefully prepared room is a team who genuinely love helping people slow down, relax and process.

We thought it was time you got to know us a little better.

Today we are introducing Hayley.

Meet Hayley

Part of the Float in the Forest team since:

March 2025

Floating for:

Around 3 years

Tell us a little about yourself:

I am 24 years wise…or young depending on the day!

I have lived locally for 23 years, although I am originally from London. I only discovered Float in the Forest when I applied for the role, but I have experienced floating before while at university in Swansea.

I have a undergraduate degree in environmental Geoscience and when I am not at Float in the Forest helping people unwind (or relaxing myself) I am also a social worker. I love cats, anything sparkly and collecting house plants. My perfect holiday usually centres around discovering great food.

What brought you to Float in the Forest?

Facebook…then a car…then my feet!

In all seriousness though, from the moment I walked through the doors I knew I wanted to be a part of Float in the Forest. It’s rare to get such a strong gut feeling. I knew I discovered something special.

What’s your favourite part of your role?

It depends. Some days I love chatting to everyone. Other days I genuinely love getting stuck in with a thorough cleaning session… It’s a difficult question as every day is a little different.

What would you tell someone who is apprehensive about floating?

Talk to me!

I love reassuring people just as much as I love floating. There is no such thing as a silly question and I enjoy helping people feel comfortable and confident before their first float.

Favourite float position?

My go to is my hands above my head or positioned on my stomach.

What is your favourite colour light for the float room?

Pink every time! I am tempted to try red sometime soon though.

Do you float with the light on or off?

Off. I switch the light off as soon as I can because I love a good float nap.

I’ll spend some time decompressing and thinking of ideas. Once I have done that, I am well and truly ready to drift off and enjoy some proper rest.

Tea or coffee?

Tea,Coffee, hot chocolate… no drink is safe from me.

Favourite place in nature?

I’d argue my bedroom counts as nature with the number of plants I own! I also love driving through the Forest of Dean, getting to work surrounded by nature everyday is pretty special. I enjoy time at Beechenhurst too.

One thing people might not know about you:

I’m a pretty open book, but one thing is that I am not a natural blonde!

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

“Never start a conversation by apologising”

Obviously, context is important here, but this is some advice that has stuck with me recently.
So many of us start conversations with this out of habit, even when we have done nothing wrong. It can quietly undermine your confidence and starts the conversation with a negative tone.

Be kinder to yourself.

Thank you for getting to know me a little better.

If you see me around the centre, please do say hello.

I’d love to chat, answer any questions about floating and help make your visit as relaxing as possible.
