Tell us a little about yourself:

I’m 26 years old and I live locally in the beautiful Forest of Dean.

I’m a mum to an adventurous little boy named Ezrah.

I am a qualified Health and Skincare Therapist with a Diploma in Holistic and Natural Therapies.

I love gardening and visiting castles in my free time.

My first float was at Float in the Forest and have been floating every month since.

What brought you to Float in the Forest?

I was scrolling through Facebook one day and saw a job listing at Float in the Forest. I had never heard of Float in the Forest before and was curious as I studied about floating briefly during my college course.

A few weeks later I was at the salon getting my hair done and I came across the job listing again and thought why not? As I’ve been thinking about it at the back of my mind and then I spontaneously applied and so happy I did!

What’s your favourite part of your role?

Seeing floaters in a post-float bliss state, especially if it’s their first time floating.

Although the float pods do all the work, it can be rewarding as a float host, seeing the benefit it has on each individual floater. [Sarah’s being modest here – our wonderful float hosts play a vital role in creating a welcoming space and empowering you to get the most from your float – Shari & Will]

What would you tell someone who is apprehensive about floating?

The unknown can be scary but have an open mind and ask me questions if you are curious to learn more, knowledge is power! You are in a safe space.

It’s impossible to explain how your float experience will be but that’s what makes floating amazing, as your first float may be completely different to your next.

Favourite float position?

Depends on the day. Usually with my arms up.

What is your favourite colour light for the float room?

Green! I’ve tried a few different light colours and green has to be my favourite.

After my floats and leaving my float room, everything is pink as an effect from the green light colour. It feels as if I have rose coloured glasses on for a few seconds until my vision goes back to normal.

Do you float with the light on or off?

I prefer to float with the light off to minimise all external distractions. It allows me to fully relax and decompress into my float.

Tea or coffee?

I like a cup of tea and a good cappuccino, so both!

Favourite place in nature?

My garden. I love gardening! I grow my own herbs and veggies, I like learning about new gardening tips and tricks to be more self-sufficient.

I enjoy wild swimming and paddle boarding as well.

One thing people might not know about you:

I’m South African! I was born and raised in South Africa and have loads of family in the UK, which is what brought me to live here in my early 20’s.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

You only live once, so make the best of it.
