The fifth winning hero!
We are holding a ‘Float Your Hero’ competition every fortnight until we are able to re-open. (Hopefully not too much longer now!)
This competition is for local heroes. They’ve been nominated by someone who admires what they do for their community. The heroes could be NHS staff, other keyworkers, volunteers, or helping their community in other ways during this strange time.
The winning heroes receive a gift card so they can come andfloat with us when we are able to re-open. This float is our way of recognising their wonderful work in the community, and gives them something to look forward to.
Thank you to everyone who nominated their hero this time around, they are all inspiring.

And so this week’s winner is….
Bonnie Bull!
Congratulations to Bonnie, and thank you to Caeredwen for nominating her.
Says Caeredwen:
“Bonnie is self employed and mother of an extremely lively two year old girl. She always works hard at her business and motherhood and hardly ever takes any time to relax or even just to look after herself.
During lockdown she took on co-ordinating the making of scrubs for the NHS, organising 17 different sewers in Lydney and the surrounding area. She did that while continuing to run her business and care for her daughter, whose nursery was closed.
Bonnie isn’t the only person who helped co-ordinate scrubs by any means, but she’s the only one who I had personal contact with. She told me that she was finding it much more demanding in terms of time and energy than she expected, but she kept doing it even when the opportunity was there to give it up. From the little I know of Bonnie this is typical of her and I’d love to see her get a bit of appreciation and reward for her efforts.”
That’s wonderful, thank you Caeredwen, and great job Bonnie. We can’t wait to meet you and host your float!

Each hero can only win once.
You can nominate one person in each round. It could be the same person each time, or it could be different people.
If your hero didn’t win this time, and you’d like them to be in with another chance of winning, fill in the form to nominate them again in the next round.
We just ask you to fill in a webform to nominate your hero. Completing the webform is the only way to enter this competition.
It doesn’t take long. You’ll tell us briefly about your hero, including a minimum of 100 words about why you think they should win.
